Service Projects

Free the Girls

The Free the Girls Service Project began in 2016 when Zonta Clubs gathered gently used bras to send to victims of domestic and sexual abuse in third-world countries. The recipients of the bras opened their own store and sold the bras to other women, in a safe and non-threatening environment. They also were able to earn wages to support themselves and their children. The Zonta Club of Franklin continues with this Service Project, sending over 50 used bras in February 2018.

The red sand project is a movement that raises awareness for those affected by modern day slavery by filling sidewalk cracks with red sand. Today there are 40.3 million people who enslaved and stripped from all freedom. Zonta of Franklin holds a red sand project sidewalk installation and awareness event yearly in downtown Franklin.
